Writing Effective CVs and Cover Letters

31 May
09:30-13:30

Are you confident that your CV and covering letter will impress prospective employers? And do you want to get the inside line on the process employers go through to select candidates for interview?
This interactive half-day workshop is primarily for research staff and final year doctoral students are also welcome. It will give you the opportunity to get feedback on your CV, practice being part of a selection panel, and get advice on improving your job applications.

Lunch will be provided on the day.

All confirmed participants will be required to submit a CV and covering letter (one-page) for one of the three job adverts (to be sent to participants in advance of the workshop) by noon on 24th May to skills-training@socsci.ox.ac.uk. These will be shared with others attending the session. The session provides an ideal opportunity to try applying for something different, so please don’t be afraid to select one that you wouldn’t normally consider. This session is all about placing and selling your existing skills in new contexts.
